A Statement from our CEO about changes at Noah's Ark

10 March 2026

Dear Members of the Noah’s Ark Community,

Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice is entering a phase of change. We want to communicate openly and transparently about what this means and how it could impact your experience with us. Like most hospices, we are operating in an extremely challenging economic environment with rising costs and a greater demand for our services. While these challenges are not critical, they do highlight the importance of planning ahead and adapting to these ongoing financial pressures. By taking careful and responsible steps now, we are confident that we can remain resilient, sustainable, and well-prepared for the future.

The Ark

To safeguard the charity’s long-term sustainability, we are reviewing our entire operational model to identify cost efficiencies wherever possible without compromising the quality of care we provide. As part of this process, we are reviewing our services to ensure they are equitable, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the children and families we support.

Clinical Services

In January 2026, we started to roll out our new Clinical Services Model. The new model is a clearer and more sustainable structure comprising two dedicated teams. Having two specialist teams will support smoother care delivery, improve continuity, and allow for more focused expertise in both teams. Over the next few months, we’ll be focused on establishing these new teams, equipping staff with the right training, and implementing effective processes.

The Community Team

The Community Team will consist of carers and nurses embedded within specific local boroughs in our catchment area. Working closer to the communities we serve will enable us to build stronger partnerships with local hospitals and community services, enhancing coordination and continuity of care for families.

The Woodlands Team

The Woodlands Team will be based at The Ark, providing dedicated 24/7 care. Establishing this in-house team will eventually enable us to offer more frequent and extended short break stays, enhancing the flexibility and continuity of support available at The Ark.

Holistic Services

The review of our Holistic Services is currently underway and is scheduled for completion in April 2026. This review is designed to enhance the efficiency of our Holistic Services, which will continue to be a cornerstone of the care and support we provide.

Any changes to our services will be carefully considered, clearly communicated, and aligned with our upcoming strategy “Every Moment Matters” which is due for publication in May 2026. This ambitious three-year strategy aims to reach more children and families from all socio-economic backgrounds across our entire catchment area. Our priority is to strengthen and safeguard the future of Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, so we can continue delivering exceptional care, both now and in the years ahead.

Sophie Andrews OBE

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Chief Executive Noah's Ark Children's Hospice

Frequently Asked Questions

At the start of 2026, 91% of the children’s hospice sector, including Noah’s Ark, were operating at a deficit. While we are currently operating within a planned deficit, we are taking careful and responsible action to strengthen the charity’s long-term sustainability.

As we mark Noah’s Ark’s 20th anniversary this year, we are making the decisions needed today to secure our future, ensuring we can continue delivering exceptional care and support to children and families, both now and for the next 20 years.

Our incredible community makes everything we do possible, and there are so many ways you can make a difference. Here are just a few ways you can help us:

  • Make a donation
  • Leave a gift in your Will
  • Sign up for a Challenge event
  • Fundraise in aid of Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice
  • Volunteer with us

As we roll out our new Clinical Service Model over the coming months, there may be a temporary impact on the availability of certain short breaks, particularly for babies, children, and young people with higher-acuity care needs. We understand how important these short breaks are for children and families, and it remains our priority to minimise any disruption.

Please continue to request short breaks as usual, as this helps us plan staffing effectively. Your responses to any requests for information, confirmations, or scheduling details are also greatly appreciated, as they allow us to provide the best possible care.

Please email info@noahsarkhospice.org.uk and one of the team will be able to help.
