Fourteen remarkably courageous sixth form students and staff from Finchley Catholic High School took on a fundraising challenge for Noah's Ark in memory of their student and friend, Francis, who was supported by our charity at the end of their life.
Mr Hourican, Assistant Head Teacher and Head of Sixth Form explains:
“On 3rd March, students in Years 12 and 13 at Finchley Catholic High School Sixth Form took part in an inspiring fundraising event: ‘Brave the Shave.’ In the weeks leading up to the event, both students and staff grew out their hair in preparation. On the day, a professional hairdresser from the renowned Daniel Galvin Salon generously volunteered their time to shave the heads of those participating.
Finchley Catholic High School is proud to support Noah’s Ark, a charity that holds a very special place in our hearts. The hospice provided compassionate care and unwavering support to our former student and friend, Francis, who sadly passed away there in May 2020. This cause continues to be deeply meaningful to our school community.
We are committed to continuing our fundraising efforts to support the incredible work Noah’s Ark does for families across the community. We are truly grateful for their care, compassion, and dedication.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the incredible sixth form students and staff at Finchley Catholic High School who bravely took on a head shave fundraising challenge in memory of their beloved friend and student, Francis. Their inspiring act of solidarity and compassion not only honoured Francis’s memory but also raised vital funds for Noah’s Ark. Their courage and commitment are a powerful reminder of the strength of friendship and the impact young people can make in their community.
The funds they raised - over £4,500 with Gift Aid - will have real impact on the children and families that we currently support. Ongoing support like this from our local community makes a huge difference to us.
