RHS Chelsea Flower Show Garden Finds a Home at The Ark

4 June 2025

Joshua Fenton’s C6 Garden has been formally opened at Noah’s Ark. The garden formed part of the Container Gardens section of the 2025 RHS Chelsea Flower Show and was awarded the coveted Silver-Gilt Medal. The garden will offer a calm sanctuary for the children and families that we support and also for staff to enjoy throughout the working day.

A Sustainable Garden

The C6 Container Garden is all about carbon sequestration, water recycling and being wildlife friendly whilst creating a calming sophisticated space. The garden promotes three ways to sequester carbon, the first is the use of bio char, which not only improves the soil but takes carbon out of the carbon cycle for up to 1000 years. The second is the use of charred oak as the material used to make planters – this locks a further 500kg co2 up for the lifespan of the planter. Finally, the planting – choosing fast growing trees and herbaceous perennials has the potential to harvest the new growth and convert it into bio char, taking it out of the carbon cycle.

The Garden Designer

Joshua Fenton started his career in horticulture working in the holidays as a 14-year-old at a large private garden in North London. After several years of self-employment in horticulture Joshua completed his RHS level 3 in practical horticulture, and set up Fenton Gardens ltd. Since the company’s formation in 2019 Fenton Gardens has won a Silver Merit at the Association of Professional Landscapers Awards 2023, Silver Merit at BBC Gardeners’ World live show 2023 for ‘Subaqua’, Silver, Silver merit and Gold at the APL awards 2024 and Gold at BBC Gardeners’ World live 2024 for ‘Lunatica’.

Made Possible with Thanks to Our Corporate Partner

The C6 Container Garden was sponsored by Navium, a subsidiary of The Fidelis Partnership, who are one of our corporate partners. The partnership started in 2021 and since then The Fidelis Partnership has supported our charity by donating over £325k through The Fidelis Foundation. The Fidelis Partnership has also supported us through event sponsorship, providing free access to their corporate box at the O2 box so families can create special memories and providing volunteers to keep The Ark’s gardens in perfect condition. Also, in attendance were Kristian Goodenough from The Bespoke Sign House and Martine and Matthew Webb-Jenkins from Stark and Greensmith, both companies also sponsored the garden.
