If you are on Universal Credit or equivalent, you may be entitled to cheaper internet – called essential, basic, or social tariffs. Please ask your internet provider.
Water
If your income is less than approx. £21K and you are living in London, there is a benefit called ‘WaterHelp’.
This benefit may give you a 50% discount on your whole bill.
If you are receiving Universal Credit or equivalent, and have either three or more children under the age of 19, or have a person in the family who has a medical condition that requires extra water there is a scheme called ‘WaterSure’ where Thames Water may cap the annual bill at £456. Energy
If you are caring for a seriously ill child with complex medical needs at home you may have high energy bills because you have to keep specialist equipment running and the heating on.
Together for Short Lives, the UK charity for Children’s Palliative Care has teamed up with gas network company SGN to support families this winter with rising bills. Contact Charity
Contact is a charity for families with children who have a disability.
They have an excellent website at www.contact.org.uk and a helpline which can be reached on 0808 808 3555.
They offer free workshops and advice to parents on subjects such as wellbeing, money matters and sleep advice.
Family Fund Charity
Family Fund is a charity that provides grants and support for families who are raising a child or young person who is seriously unwell, or has a disability, whilst also on a low income.
Family Fund recently changed their grant re-application timescales from 15 to 24 months for families in England, due to increased pressure of funding requests.
