On Thursday (5th September), Tottenham Hotspur vice-captain James Maddison presented a cheque for £75,000 to our Chief Executive, Sophie Andrews OBE at the club’s training facility in Enfield.
Also in attendance were Faye and Kam and their children Jaida, aged 4, and Axel, aged 1, from Barnet. We have been supporting Jaida since she was two years old. Jaida has a rare genetic condition but more interestingly loves Rihanna and wearing only the coolest of trainers.
Faye said:
“Noah’s Ark has been life changing for my family, I don’t know where we’d be without them. Everything we do now is about enriching Jaida’s life, bringing as much happiness as possible. Without Noah’s Ark, this would be so much harder and there would be far fewer magical moments. I feel so lucky to have them in our lives.”
The money was raised at James’ annual charity golf day ‘The Maddison Invitational’, an 18-hole pro-am style tournament at Centurion Golf Club in St Albans that took place on Tuesday 28th May 2024. The dedication came after James visited our state-of-the-art hospice building, The Ark, to spend time with children and families who benefit from our work.
Speaking in May upon announcing he was dedicating his golf day to Noah’s Ark, James Maddison said:
“I was blown away following my recent visit to Noah’s Ark by the amazing work done by the charity and the support it receives from the Club. It was a real pleasure to meet with both the staff and families, and I am delighted to be able to give something back by raising funds for the charity at this event.”
The Maddison Invitational boasted an impressive roster of celebrities from the world of entertainment with names like Tom Holland, Wes Nelson, Olly Murs, Ronan Keating, Howard Donald and Michael McIntyre all swinging for the cause.
The sports world was also well represented by famous names, past and present. More information on the event and full list of celebrity attendees can be found here.
The day’s golf was followed by speeches from James Maddison and CEO Sophie Andrews, OBE, plus a lively auction of impressive holidays and football memorabilia to raise vital funds for our charity.
CEO Sophie Andrews said:
‘We are extremely grateful to James Maddison for dedicating his annual celebrity golf day to us as Spurs’ official charity partner. This generous donation will fund our vital work and help us in our goal to make every moment matter for the children and families we support.’
