THIS IS HOSPICE CARE
We are proud to be one of 143 hospices taking part in Hospice UK’s ‘This is Hospice Care’ campaign, which launches today. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the vital role hospices play in communities and to shift public perceptions of hospice care. The campaign is launching today with a powerful TV advert based on real life hospice stories. The goal is to encourage people to consider leaving a gift in their will to support their local hospice, ensuring that these essential services can continue to provide their compassionate and specialist care for future generations.
ESTATE PLANNING EVENT
A recent study showed that only 28% of UK adults claimed to have a will, meaning nearly 40 million people don’t have one. Without a will, estates are distributed according to intestacy rules which are designed by the Government and may not reflect an individuals wishes. To help their community navigate this often-confusing process, we are facilitating a free Estate Planning Event on the 28th February 2025 at 3pm till 7pm at the Wesley Hall Community Centre in Barnet EN5 4JJ. The event will feature a spectrum of professionals to provide expert guidance and address questions relating to aspects of estate planning. There will also be breakout sessions that will focus on the varying elements of estate planning.

We support over 350 children and their families every year but there are a further 2,500 children in our catchment area that could benefit from our care and this number is growing. Added to that, medical advances mean that children with life-limiting and life-threatening are living longer. This increase in demand will place added pressure on all children’s hospices to increase their income. We receive only 17% of our annual income from statutory funding, relying heavily on fundraising and support from the community including gifts in wills.
To tackle this growing need, we are collaborating with 11 other London hospices – Royal Trinity Hospice, St Christopher’s Hospice, North London Hospice, Community Hospice, St Joseph’s Hospice, St Luke’s Hospice, ellenor, Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, Demelza, Harlington Hospice and Saint Francis Hospice. The collaboration seeks to highlight the breadth of services that hospices provide and encourages their local community to consider leaving a gift in their will so we can continue to provide this vital service to the people of London – now and into the future. One nurse from ten of the hospices turned out for a photoshoot against the backdrop of recognisable landmarks to encourage Londoners to ‘Leave a Legacy for London’. The 12 hospices together care for around 25,000 people every year and their loved ones, that’s enough to fill more than 280 London double decker buses, so they are urging supporters to leave a gift in their will to help secure the future of hospice care in their communities.
Sophie Andrews OBE, CEO said:
“I’m very proud that Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice is part of Hospice UK’s ‘This is Hospice Care’ campaign. Gifts in Wills are a key area of growth for the charity and one where our supporters can have an enormous impact. There can be no kinder legacy than protecting excellent palliative care for the children and families in your local community.”
Cathy White, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice’s Supporter Engagement Manager, said:
“Leaving a gift in your will to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice provides a lasting legacy of love and support for the children and their families we help care for. Each gift is handled with the highest level of respect and gratitude and will help to create precious moments during the most challenging times.”
