Remember and celebrate a loved one with Noah's Ark

14 MAY 2019

Many people are reluctant to talk about death, but having open conversations about death and dying is something we should all be thinking about to make sure one’s wishes are heard.

Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones.
A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you.

A lot of people find donating to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice a unique and meaningful way to remember a loved one whilst helping to raise valuable funds to support seriously unwell babies and children. Donating in memory is really simple and there are different ways in which to donate.

Pay For a Day

It costs £8,219 a day to keep Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice afloat. In 2018, that money was used to support 294 seriously unwell babies and children, 344 of their siblings and 517 parents/carers. Sadly, the number of children and families who need our help will only increase.

Please help support us by paying for an entire day to keep our services running. Or you could pay for an hour, a minute or even a second. For just £5.71 you could help keep Noah’s Ark buoyant for a minute.

Every day Noah’s Ark works to create precious moments for children, young people and their families by offering bespoke packages of care from our nurses, carers and therapists to families who desperately need it both at home and (soon) in The Ark  - our new state-of-the-art hospice building.

The day you choose could be the day a parent gets to interact with their child for the first time through music and play, or it could be that a child gets to experience ice-skating for the first time at a family day. It may be the day that a family is supported by our nursing team on their last day together.

Picking a date is about choosing a day that is special to you or your group  -  it could be remembering a special person, celebrating a birthday or anniversary. But whatever the reason, you can choose the day you want.

Every day of the year is available to select on a first-come, first-served basis and your day will be recognised on our website and on social media.

Giving in Memory

Giving in Memory is a special way to honour a loved one. As an alternative to sending flowers, by offering family and friends the opportunity to donate to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice your loved one can be celebrated while helping us to give the vital care so desperately needed by the children we help look after.

For more information on how to organise donations in memory of your loved one please contact Bex Borrows at RBorrows@noahsarkhospice.org.uk or call 020 8449 8877.

Alternatively, you can create your own online In Memory page to celebrate and remember someone special. Stories, memories and photos can be shared among friends and family with the option to make a donation in remembrance of the loved one. Setting up your own online page is easy to do through sites such as JustGiving and Virgin Money.

Butterfly Memorial Walk

Noah’s Ark Woodland Walk offers a unique and meaningful way to remember a loved one whilst helping to raise vital funds for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice. The Woodland Walk is located in the grounds of The Ark hospice nature reserve and will provide a beautiful and peaceful setting in which to place the memorial butterflies.

By choosing to buy memorial butterfly  - beautifully hand-made by master craftsman and sculptor, Paul Cox  - in Noah’s Ark’s Woodland Walk, not only are you celebrating a life and remembering someone who was special to you, but you are choosing to benefit others. By donating in this way you’ll be remembering your loved one, while helping children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

The money raised from the memorial butterflies will be used to help Noah’s Ark care and support more children and families in desperate need of our services than we currently can.

For more information on how to arrange a memorial butterfly please contact Bex Borrows at RBorrows@noahsarkhospice.org.uk or call 020 8449 8877.
