ROLE DETAILS
To help Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice raise the vital funds it needs to support babies, children & young people with life-limiting and life-threatening health conditions and their families, we have an amazing group of supporters that participate in challenge events (running events, swimming, challenges etc.) to fundraise for the charity.
As a Challenge Event Volunteer for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our incredible challenge event participants—whether they’re running, swimming, or cycling to raise vital funds. From cheering them on to providing practical support on the day, you’ll help create a positive and memorable experience for everyone involved. If you’re friendly, proactive, and ready to get stuck in, we’d love to have you on board!
Noah’s Ark takes its responsibility for safeguarding the wellbeing of children seriously. This role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Application and 2 character references.
Main activities/tasks:
We are looking for positive, proactive, friendly people to get stuck into one of our many roles and help to create a truly memorable event. You might be:
- Cheering on Noah’s Ark’s challenge event participants (e.g marathon runners, swimmers, triathletes etc).
- Helping support our participants with any questions or issues that may arise on the day of the event.
- Giving out refreshments
- Reading event briefings before event day
Qualities/ experience/ skills needed:
- Organised – there might be a few different tasks we need your help with on the day.
- Confident – we need you to be comfortable and happy with approaching members of the public.
- Approachable – you’ll be the face of Noah’s Ark whilst volunteering with us.
- Enthusiastic – when helping to cheer on our challenge event participants.
- Flexible – sometimes things can change on the go or at the last minute, so being willing and able to adapt to support our event managers is vital.
Opportunities of the role:
- An opportunity to learn valuable new skills in events management or the charity sector, this is a great way to get an insight as to what’s involved at sports events and also develop your experience.
- Meet new people and help our inspirational challenge event participants complete their challenge!
- Travel expenses reimbursed
- Join a friendly, growing and vibrant community of Noah’s Ark volunteers
Interviews, training and assessment process:
At Noah’s Ark, we value volunteer support, but we are also aware that not all roles are suitable for everyone. The interview and training process is in place to ensure that the Noah’s Ark staff get to know more about you, that you are given the correct training for the role and that you can find out if this is a role you would like to undertake. The training process is as follows:
- Attend a Volunteer Information Session: all potential volunteers have to attend one of these sessions before they are able to get involved in any capacity
- Volunteer Interview: a chance for us to get to know you better and ensure well matched to the role
- Fundraising Event Training: a 2 hour training session on Noah’s Ark fundraising and how challenge event day works.
- Pre-Event Briefing: before all event days, you’ll need to attend a briefing session that will go over the specific details for that event.
Time commitment: Minimum 1 event per year, volunteer shifts lasting a between 5 – 8 hours
Location: Various (majority of events based in Central London)
Minimum age: 18
